Extensions do not identify every codec. Check the actual video/audio container, codecs and tracks with Media Info, then compare them with the supported conversion profiles below.

Video formats

The Universal Video Converter accepts16 tested input extensions and offers 12 output profiles. Videos are processed locally in your browser. Container support does not guarantee that every codec inside that container can be decoded; playback support also depends on the destination browser or app.

FormatReadWriteOutput profile and compatibility
MP4YesYesH.264 + AAC for browsers, phones and sharing.
WEBMYesYesVP8 + Vorbis for web playback; older Apple software may need MP4.
MKVYesYesH.264 + AAC in Matroska; use a desktop player such as VLC.
MOVYesYesH.264 + AAC in QuickTime; not a ProRes or lossless editing master.
AVIYesYesMPEG-4 Part 2 + MP3 for legacy desktop players.
FLVYesYesFLV1 + MP3 for legacy software; modern browsers do not play Flash.
OGVYesYesTheora + Vorbis in Ogg; browser playback varies.
3GPYesYesMPEG-4 Part 2 + AAC. Some older phones require H.263/AMR, which this profile does not promise.
MPGYesYesMPEG-2 + MP2 program stream for legacy players; not a DVD authoring tool.
MPEGYesNoMPEG program-stream input. Export this container using the MPG output profile.
TSYesYesH.264 + AAC transport stream; best opened in a dedicated player.
WMVYesYesMicrosoft MPEG-4 v3 + WMA2 in ASF; not WMV9. Check the receiving application.
GIFYesYesAnimated GIF has no audio, a limited palette, and can be much larger than video.
VOBYesNoSingle unencrypted DVD video files. Disc menus and protected DVDs are not supported.
MTSYesNoMPEG transport-stream input. Use TS for transport-stream output.
M2TSYesNoM2TS transport-stream input. Use TS for transport-stream output.

Video conversion re-encodes the first video and audio tracks. GIF output is a silent animation; subtitles, chapters and metadata are not copied. Choose quality, resolution, frame rate and whether to keep audio in the converter.

Video size and device limits

No fixed server upload limit. Your device’s available memory and browser determine the practical limit. The current engine requires files smaller than 2 GiB and runs one video at a time. Large videos need more memory and may convert slowly, especially on a phone.

Audio formats

The Audio Converter has the directional capabilities below. MP3 supports input and CBR/VBR output. M4A, AAC and AIFC are not supported. Container signatures and codec profiles are checked locally; renaming a file does not change its format.

FormatReadWriteCodec / container
MP3YesYesMPEG Layer III (CBR/VBR input only)
WAVYesYesPCM in WAV (8/16/24-bit input; 16/24-bit output)
FLACYesYesFLAC (8/16/24-bit input; 16/24-bit output)
OGGYesYesVorbis in Ogg
OPUSYesYesOpus in Ogg
AIFFYesYesPCM in AIFF (16/24-bit; no AIFC)

Audio limits and browser requirements

Up to 8 files per batch, 32 MB per input, 10 minutes per recording and 64 MB decoded PCM per file. Retained results are capped at 64 MB per batch. Only mono/stereo and supported sample rates from 8,000 to 192,000 Hz are accepted. WebAssembly and Web Workers are required. Phones may need shorter recordings. Lossy output re-encodes samples; tags and artwork are removed.

Video conversion tools

Start with a dedicated conversion page below, or use the Universal Video Converter for a mixed batch.

Image conversion tools

Choose an input below to open a dedicated conversion page. For mixed file types, use the Private Image Converter and select one output for the batch. HEIC input depends on native browser support. AVIF has local WASM encoding and a fallback decoder. JPG and JPEG share the same tools.

Image and PDF device limits

Up to 50 files per batch, 64 MB per file, 24 megapixels per decoded image, and 16,384 pixels per side. PDFs may contain up to 50 pages. Results are capped at 256 MB per session. Lower-memory and mobile devices use smaller budgets shown in the tool. PDF editing also caps combined inputs and retained outputs at 128 MB, or the device result budget when lower. Complex or damaged files may still fail; your originals remain unchanged.
