    Conversion settings

H.264 + AAC for browsers, phones and sharing.

    Advanced Settings

Resolution caps height without enlarging. Odd dimensions round down for codec compatibility. MPG defaults to 24 fps. The first video and audio tracks are used; subtitles, chapters and metadata are not copied.

Nothing gets uploaded. Videos are processed locally in your browser.

No fixed server upload limit. Your device’s available memory and browser determine the practical limit.

The video engine downloads about 31 MiB on first use. One video runs at a time. Current WebAssembly inputs must be smaller than 2 GiB; practical limits are often much lower. Google advertising may make separate network requests; file bytes and names are never passed to it. FFmpeg licenses and source.

How to convert VOB to MP4

    1. Choose one supported, unencrypted VOB file containing the footage. IFO and BUP navigation files are not video inputs.
    2. Keep MP4 selected. Start with Auto quality, Original resolution and Original frame rate; wait for metadata before converting.
    3. Convert locally, download the MP4 and check picture, sound and synchronization in the receiving player. Duration and device resources determine processing time.

A VOB file conversion, not a complete DVD rip

VOB is a DVD video container. This tool re-encodes decodable footage to H.264 video and AAC audio; it cannot decrypt CSS-protected discs or read a complete DVD title structure. It does not preserve DVD menus, navigation, subtitles or chapters. Only the first video and first audio track are selected, so alternate languages are omitted.

Split VOB files remain separate clips

A DVD movie may span several VOB files. Adding them to the batch converts each file separately; it does not join them or reconstruct the movie order. A segment may also depend on neighboring disc data. Use a local DVD-aware workflow for an authorized, unencrypted source when you need a complete title, track selection or joining.

If your VOB will not convert

Check that the source is unencrypted and plays in a local DVD-capable application, then try an intact copy of the single file. A VOB extension does not guarantee a supported codec. Damaged streams, missing segment data, unsupported codecs and insufficient browser memory can fail. Below the engine input limit is still not a guarantee of enough device memory. Try a shorter source prepared locally or a desktop converter; there is no upload fallback.

Convert one unencrypted DVD video file

Choose a VOB containing the footage you want, rather than an IFO navigation file. This is a file conversion, not DVD ripping: separate VOB files remain separate outputs and disc menus are not included.

    Understanding VOB and MP4

VOB files carry MPEG program streams used in DVD video. This tool handles a single unencrypted VOB file, not disc menus, navigation, CSS decryption or automatic joining of a movie split across several files.

MP4 is a media container widely used for phone recordings, downloads and web video. This converter exports H.264 video with AAC audio; other MP4 sources can use different codecs.

    Compatibility after conversion

H.264 + AAC for browsers, phones and sharing. Test the downloaded file in its intended application. Browser preview support and container conversion support are different capabilities.

    Quality, time and practical limits

Start with Auto and Original resolution for a general playback copy. High uses more bits to retain detail; Smaller File trades some detail for space. A long or high-resolution recording can take longer than its running time, particularly on a phone. This version does not preserve HDR mastering metadata, subtitles or multiple audio tracks. Keep your original before evaluating a conversion.

    Local processing you can verify

Open your browser’s Network panel before selecting a video. You will see engine and page downloads, anonymous tool usage events, and separate ad requests, but no request carrying the video or its filename. Cancel terminates the worker; clearing the batch releases retained results. More about privacy verification.

This tool uses the GPL FFmpeg core as a third-party component. Read the software licenses, source information and separate codec patent considerations.

    GOOD TO KNOW

    Video conversion questions.

How do I convert VOB to MP4?

Choose a local file, wait for its metadata, select the output and quality, then convert and download. A batch is processed one video at a time. The engine downloads on first use; your videos do not upload.

What will the MP4 file contain?

H.264 + AAC for browsers, phones and sharing. Only the first video and audio tracks are selected. GIF has no audio; subtitles, chapters and metadata are not copied.

Will the quality and file size stay the same?

Video is re-encoded, which can change quality and size. High quality usually retains more detail and uses more space. Original resolution avoids intentional resizing, though odd dimensions round down for codec compatibility. Keep the source as your master copy.

How long does conversion take, and how large can my file be?

Time depends on duration, resolution, codec and device. Browser WebAssembly can be slower than a desktop encoder. There is no fixed server upload limit; device memory sets the practical limit. The current engine requires inputs below 2 GiB, and phones often need much smaller clips.

Does FormatPlease upload or store my video?

No. File bytes and names stay on your device. The browser downloads the engine from this website and runs it in a worker. Separate advertising requests may occur, but the converter does not provide your files to advertising or analytics.

Why might a VOB file fail?

A container extension does not identify every codec inside it. Unsupported codecs, encrypted files, damaged containers and memory pressure can prevent conversion. There is no server upload fallback; try another source or a shorter clip.
