ICO to PNG, explained
Convert ICO to PNG directly on your device. Create a PNG raster copy for screenshots, diagrams and editing handoffs. Inspect the preview dimensions and transparent edges. Converting a small decoded icon does not restore a larger source image or add lost detail.
Choose ICO files and confirm the preview.
Keep PNG selected. Review the output behavior below before converting.
Convert and download the PNG results. Multiple results can be saved together as a ZIP.
Reading your ICO source
ICO files may contain multiple icon representations. The browser chooses a representation to decode; this tool does not expose a picker for every embedded size or export every icon entry.
Settings for PNG output
PNG has no lossy quality slider. Decoded transparency can be kept, but converting an opaque source does not remove its background. Photographs can produce large PNG files.
Dimensions in ICO to PNG
Original size keeps decoded raster dimensions. Advanced Settings offers percentage scaling or fit within a maximum width and height, with aspect ratio preserved and no cropping. Input and output safety limits both apply.
What survives the conversion
PNG avoids a new lossy encode. It preserves the available decoded raster, not original vector paths, extra source frames, camera data or detail already lost to compression. Inspect the preview dimensions and transparent edges. Converting a small decoded icon does not restore a larger source image or add lost detail.
Batch processing and device limits
Choose up to 50 files, each at most 64 MB. Decoded images must fit 24 megapixels and 16,384 pixels per side; total outputs are capped at 256 MB. All conversion runs on this device. Source metadata is removed, and damaged or unsupported variants can fail without changing the originals.
