AIFF and WAV: PCM samples in different containers
Standard AIFF stores big-endian PCM; this WAV output uses little-endian integer PCM. Both can hold uncompressed audio. The tool accepts mono/stereo 16/24-bit standard AIFF, including .aif files, at supported rates from 8,000 to 192,000 Hz. AIFC is rejected, including compressed variants and AIFC files labeled NONE or sowt; changing the extension does not make them standard AIFF.
Choose Sample Rate, Channels and Bit Depth
Sample Rate is the number of samples per second. Original keeps the source rate; choosing 44.1 or 48 kHz resamples when it differs. Channels controls mono or stereo: Original keeps the source layout and Mono downmixes stereo. Bit Depth controls output PCM precision: 24-bit is the default, while reducing a 24-bit source to 16-bit changes its samples. Keeping the original rate and channels with sufficient bit depth preserves supported PCM samples; conversion is not unconditionally lossless and does not recover earlier losses.
To compare outputs or convert a mixed batch, use the Audio Converter for MP3, WAV, FLAC and AIFF. Read WAV vs FLAC for PCM storage and quality or WAV vs MP3 for editing and sharing. Original audio and filenames stay on your device.
Three steps to your WAV
- Choose one or more AIFF files.
- Adjust the output settings, then convert.
- Download individual files or the batch as a ZIP.

Audio quality
Original sample rate and channels preserve the supported PCM samples. For WAV/AIFF output, choose a bit depth at least as high as the source. Changing sample rate, channels or reducing bit depth changes the samples.
Format compatibility and settings
Input must be standard mono/stereo 16/24-bit PCM AIFF; compressed AIFC is not supported. WAV output uses little-endian integer PCM. It is suited to editors that need uncompressed samples but can be much larger than compressed audio. Choose 24-bit to preserve supported PCM precision.
Local processing and practical limits
The audio engine loads when needed and processes one file at a time in a worker. No upload server is involved. Cancel stops the worker. Download and clear results to release memory. Tags and artwork are omitted.
