HEIC to AVIF, explained
Convert HEIC to AVIF directly on your device. Create a still AVIF image with alpha using a lazy local WASM codec. Inspect orientation and colors. The export is a still raster copy, not the complete camera original: depth data, Live Photo motion, HDR characteristics and metadata are not preserved.
Choose HEIC files and confirm the preview.
Keep AVIF selected. Adjust quality and check fine detail after conversion.
Convert and download the AVIF results. Multiple results can be saved together as a ZIP.
Reading your HEIC source
HEIC and HEIF require native browser and operating-system decoding. No fallback HEIC codec is included. Try one photo before a batch; a compatible device may still reject a particular file variant.
Settings for AVIF output
Choose quality 1–100 or lossless. The shared quality scale does not imply equal quality across codecs. AVIF encoding is slower than native JPEG and downloads a separate codec only when used.
Dimensions in HEIC to AVIF
Original size keeps decoded raster dimensions. Advanced Settings offers percentage scaling or fit within a maximum width and height, with aspect ratio preserved and no cropping. Input and output safety limits both apply.
What survives the conversion
Output stores decoded 8-bit pixels. Lossless preserves those pixels, not original HDR, bit depth, metadata or animation. Check gradients and compatibility before sharing. Inspect orientation and colors. The export is a still raster copy, not the complete camera original: depth data, Live Photo motion, HDR characteristics and metadata are not preserved.
Batch processing and device limits
Choose up to 50 files, each at most 64 MB. Decoded images must fit 24 megapixels and 16,384 pixels per side; total outputs are capped at 256 MB. All conversion runs on this device. Source metadata is removed, and damaged or unsupported variants can fail without changing the originals.
