WEBP to PNG, explained
Export a WEBP graphic as PNG when you need a different container while keeping its decoded transparency. This is useful for cutouts, icons and graphics in software that accepts PNG. The conversion produces a still image and does not recover detail already discarded by a lossy WEBP source.
Choose WEBP files; review any first-frame warning.
Leave PNG selected to preserve transparent pixels.
Convert, inspect the edges and file size, then download PNGs individually or as a ZIP.
A practical route for graphics and cutouts
Some design tools or publishing workflows ask for PNG even when a web download arrives as WEBP. A real conversion makes the decoded graphic usable in that workflow. This is particularly helpful for a transparent product image or icon, where a JPEG copy would replace transparency with a solid background.
How transparency is handled
The converter keeps the decoded alpha channel in its PNG output. Soft edges can remain partially transparent rather than being blended onto a new background. If the original is opaque, however, this tool does not create transparency or separate the foreground from the background. It is a format converter, not a masking editor.
Lossless output cannot undo earlier loss
PNG preserves the decoded pixels without adding a lossy JPEG-style encode. That does not mean the entire history of the image is lossless: the WEBP source may already contain compression changes. Compare your output with the original design asset if you need to judge quality, rather than relying on the extension alone.
Animated WEBP exports a still
Only the first frame is used. The application displays a warning for detected animation before conversion, so you can stop if a moving image is required. The output is not an APNG, a frame sequence or an animation editor project. Preserve the original when motion, timing or later frames matter.
Check storage size before replacing the source
PNG may be substantially larger, especially for photographs. There is no quality slider on this output path. Original size keeps dimensions; use Advanced Settings for optional resize. Use the size shown in the results to decide whether the compatibility benefit is worth it. Keep WEBP for a web page that already displays the original correctly.
