BMP to GIF, explained
Convert BMP to GIF directly on your device. Create a still GIF for a workflow that requires a GIF image. Check palette colors and image orientation in older screenshots. A small compressed file can still decode into a raster that exceeds the image limits.
Choose BMP files and confirm the preview.
Keep GIF selected. Review the output behavior below before converting.
Convert and download the GIF results. Multiple results can be saved together as a ZIP.
Reading your BMP source
BMP input is decoded by the browser. Common bitmap files are supported, but specialized or damaged variants can fail. The converter works with decoded pixels rather than preserving BMP header fields.
Settings for GIF output
GIF output uses a fixed 256-entry palette and a single transparent palette index. Partly transparent pixels become transparent or opaque, so soft edges and smooth gradients can change visibly.
Dimensions in BMP to GIF
Original size keeps decoded raster dimensions. Advanced Settings offers percentage scaling or fit within a maximum width and height, with aspect ratio preserved and no cropping. Input and output safety limits both apply.
What survives the conversion
This tool writes one still GIF frame. There is no animation, frame-rate control or JPEG-style quality slider. Inspect banding and compare PNG for detailed graphics. Check palette colors and image orientation in older screenshots. A small compressed file can still decode into a raster that exceeds the image limits.
Batch processing and device limits
Choose up to 50 files, each at most 64 MB. Decoded images must fit 24 megapixels and 16,384 pixels per side; total outputs are capped at 256 MB. All conversion runs on this device. Source metadata is removed, and damaged or unsupported variants can fail without changing the originals.
