Choose your PDF, drag its page thumbnails or use the arrow buttons, remove unwanted pages with Delete, then press Export PDF. FormatPlease’s Reorder PDF Pages and Delete PDF Pages tools use the same page manager, so you can make both changes before downloading one new file.
The problem: a PDF has the right material in the wrong order
A scan can contain blank backs, duplicate sheets, or unwanted pages. Another file may have its contents arranged as 1, 3, 2, 4 when the intended reading order is 1, 2, 3, 4. Reorganizing pages changes the document’s sequence; it does not rewrite printed page numbers inside the pages.
Keep the source and decide what the final document should contain before deleting anything. A blank-looking page can contain faint marks, a signature on the reverse, or useful spacing in a booklet. Inspect it at a readable size first.
Why the thumbnail labels can be confusing
The page manager identifies a page by its original position in the uploaded file. That may differ from a page number printed on the paper: a cover sheet counts as a PDF page even if it has no printed number.
For a source whose printed content reads 1, 3, 2, 4, move the third thumbnail before the second. The thumbnail’s source label helps you track the same page while the content moves. Use the visible content to decide the intended order.
How to delete or rearrange pages
Load and inspect your PDF
- Open Reorder PDF Pages or Delete PDF Pages and choose one PDF in the file area.
- Wait for the page thumbnails. The Arrange your PDF pages area reports pages kept and pages selected.
- Hover over, focus, or tap a thumbnail to see a larger preview. Confirm which source page each thumbnail represents.
Delete blank, duplicate, or unwanted pages
Use Delete on the thumbnail you want to remove. Repeat for other unwanted pages and watch the pages-kept count decrease. There is no separate bulk-delete button: selecting checkboxes is for extracting pages, not deleting them.
If you remove the wrong page, Reset page changes restores the original arrangement, including deleted pages and rotations. It resets all changes, so review your plan before starting again. At least one page must remain to export a PDF.
Reorder and rotate
Drag a thumbnail to its intended position, or use its up and down arrow buttons. The arrows are useful with a keyboard or on a small screen. For the 1, 3, 2, 4 example, move the third thumbnail up once, then read the thumbnails from the beginning.
Use Rotate on an incorrectly oriented page; each press turns it by 90 degrees. You can combine reordering, deletion, and rotation in one export.
Export the kept pages
Press Export PDF to save all the pages still in the manager, in their displayed order. Download the result, named edited-pages.pdf. Extract selected pages is a different action: it exports only checked pages. Do not use it when you want the complete kept sequence.
Try it with FormatPlease
Reorder PDF pages or Delete PDF pages, then inspect the exported copy before using it in an application, assignment, or shared document.
How to verify the result
- Page count: open the downloaded file in a PDF viewer. The count should equal the original count minus the pages you deleted. If it is unexpectedly small, check whether you exported only selected pages.
- Page order: read the thumbnail strip and the actual pages from first to last. Check the cover, section boundaries, and final page rather than trusting filename order.
- Orientation: open every rotated page at a readable size. Check portrait and landscape pages individually.
- Content: compare important text and images with the original. Try selecting and copying a sentence if searchable text matters.
Limits and things to know
The page manager currently accepts PDFs of up to 50 pages. This limit applies to the input, so uploading a longer file and planning to delete most pages will not bypass it. Device memory and file-byte limits also apply. Prepare a smaller source elsewhere when necessary.
Password-protected and damaged PDFs are rejected. Page text and vector objects are copied rather than exported from thumbnail images, but bookmarks, forms, metadata, and signatures are not guaranteed to survive. Keep the original when those features matter. For extraction into separate files, use Split PDF; for checking text after page copying, continue with the related PDF text guide below.
